At a time when there is growing interest in UK, Europe and the US towards 'medical tourism' to India, an Agra based surgeon, Ajay Prakash recently performed a record 75 surgeries in a single 20-hour day, thereby demonstrating the effectiveness and affordability of a unique surgical procedure he has invented. 
The surgeries were performed free of charge using his single-hole surgical technique, and included 69 gall bladder and six appendix operations. Dr Prakash’s gynecologist wife Divya aided him in achieving the feat. So far, the husband-wife team has performed 16,000 surgeries in various cities of India using the single-hole technique.
Dr Prakash’s technique saves time, blood loss and post-operative care, and involves just a two cm incision, reports IANS. Last year, Dr Prakash was feted by Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam.
